The Random Snare

"The Random Snare" started out as a series of random taps on a computer mouse, then blossomed into seven snare drum solos with a connecting theme.

A Game of Cards (mm277)

My new book, "A Game of Cards" (concept shown on Melbourne Musos episode 277), deals with shuffling a deck of playing cards, putting a card on each drum and going for it; a great cure for drummer's block!

The Numbers Game

"One-2-Twenty" as presented on Melbourne Musos episodes 278&279 deal with the number of notes you can play "per beat" ..... our most popular notes are crotchets, quavers, semi-quavers, minims, semi-breves .... why should they have all the fun???
I have a new book available called "The Numbers Game" ... here are a dozen pages of it for you to work through, all based on the premise of "One-2-Twenty" ...... go sik!

The Gladstone Technique (mm312/313)

Melbourne Musos episodes 312 and 313 pay tribute to Billy Gladstone, his innovations, his playing and his techniques.

Billy Gladstone was famous for being the house percussionist for the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York throughout the 1930's, 40's and 50's; his snare drum technique incorporating finger bounce control was by all accounts outstanding.

The Gladstone Pages .pdf file sets out a series of exercises and studies that deal with working one hand at a time as per the teaching techniques of Billy Gladstone.
